Your challenges
Local authorities serve as the bridge between citizens, local businesses and a national strategy. They turn ambition into reality by guiding and supporting local projects for the development of renewable energies and energy recovery, green renovation and the development of infrastructure. They are also the meeting point for the different stakeholders in a given area, working together to define a sustainable future for all.
Public services also set an example for users and businesses by showing that the decarbonisation of buildings and services in the community is an essential component of the energy and environmental transition.
Understanding an area is crucial to defining a local strategy, and Urbanomy has extensive expertise in several decision-support projects for local authorities, backed by EDF's R&D, whose territorial projects in France and abroad have allowed us to design and develop unique tools and methodologies.
Whether it's the assessment of the stock of residential, commercial and social buildings, the quantified calculation of renewable energy potential, the identification of priority sites for the expansion of heating and cooling networks or the analysis of waste heat potential, Urbanomy has a range of tools and methodologies to support your local strategy.
Through its expertise specifically geared for developers, Urbanomy can also support the planning phase of joint development zones, the renovation of brownfield sites and the redevelopment of industrial estates.

Our methodologies and certifications
-
Carbon Footprint
Our consultants have Bilan Carbone® certification, based on the methodology of the ADEME, the French Agency for Ecological Transition. They are also proficient in GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 standards.
-
ACT Step by Step
At Urbanomy, we help you take action for your climate transition with our ACT Step by Step (Accelerate Climate Transition) certified consultants.
-
OCARA
The aim of the OCARA methodology, crafted by fellow climate consultancy Carbone 4, is to help economic players adapt to climate change, so as to ensure their resilience in the wake of existing and future climate impacts.
To support local authorities and public bodies, we embark a strong geospatial expertise to understand and analyse the area, using geographic information systems (GIS) such as ArcGIS or QGIS. We work hand in hand with EDF's R&D and its automated analysis tools for an entire network of buildings (residential, commercial, social) and geolocalised calculation of renewable energy potential (photovoltaic, biomass, wind, waste heat, etc.).
Our references in your field
Being the strategic energy and climate consultancy of EDF Group, the world's leading producer of low-carbon electricity, Urbanomy can rely on a dense network and in-depth knowledge of local issues through its local representatives.
Urbanomy has worked with numerous local authorities and public bodies to draw up their local energy master plans, and has also analysed the housing stock to identify priority renovations. We also help local development projects such as ecodistricts, garden villages and joint development zones to define a political and technological framework that will lead the way to low-carbon developments:
- In the United Kingdom, Devon County Council and Oxfordshire County Council, Crown Commercial Services and Scottish Procurement, as well as BEIS, the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (now known as the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero).
- In France, the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur, the city of Mulhouse, the urban areas of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, Hénin-Carvin and the Orge-Yvette-Seine mixed union in the Île-de-France.
- In Germany, the town of Malchow in the country's north-east and DIN, the German Standards Institute.
